Administrative Director, Faith Academy

Faith Academy Child Development Center is a non-profit child development center that has approximately 60-70 children and 12-15 staff. We provide a Christian Environment in which to nurture and care for children 4 weeks to 5 years old that will nurture and develop the whole child socially, emotionally, developmentally, physically, and spiritually. We are housed in a new child friendly building and have high standards in areas of space, equipment, safety, and teacher-child ratio. We seek an experienced leader with excellent administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills with vision and ideas for the future.

Mission Statement: To provide a Christian environment and curriculum for the children and staff.

Responsible To: Pastor and Support Ministry Board, Faith Community Church

Basic Function: Manage, oversee, mentor, coach, build and support the community of the Academy to promote the program's mission.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervise the total operations and maintenance of Faith Academy.

2. Supervise all program activities.

3. Supervise, monitors, and evaluates performance of program staff members.

4. Prepare, submits, and maintains program budgets.

5. Oversee the program operations including Academy finances, staff and student handbooks, curriculum development and maintenance of the physical facility necessary to meet licensure requirements.

6. Prepare and submits for approval by the Pastor and the Support Ministry Board an annual School Improvement Plan with reasonable and reachable goals and objectives.

7. Ensure compliance to all state licensed or sponsored programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

• Child growth and development

• Curriculum planning and assessment

• Time management

• Policies, procedures, and philosophy of child development program.

• Principles of supervision and training.

• Health and safety precautions and procedures.

• Budget preparation and control.

• Equipment, materials, and supplies used in a child care program.

• Oral and written communication skills.

• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

• External standards and program quality indicators (WMELS, NAEYC, Youngstar, The Registry)

• Other state sponsored programs (W2, SDC)

Abilities:

• Apply knowledge of growth and development, curriculum planning and assessment to support Academy teachers in providing developmentally appropriate care and education

• Develop and maintain effective relationships with employees, children, parents and community members.

• Mentor and coach program teachers, assistants, and volunteers.

• Work independently with accountability to Faith Community Church Pastor and Support Ministry Board

• Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective course of action.

• Complete work with numerous interruptions.

• Maintain a healthy and safe environment at all times.

• Apply and explain policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

• Lift 50lbs.

• Plan and organize work.

• Meet schedule and timelines.

• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Develop effective staff development training events

• Analyze and implement effective marketing plan to grow enrollment and build community partnerships

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Must be 21 years of age.

• High school diploma or its equivalent.

• Have at least 2 years of experience as a child care teacher or center director in a licensed child care center or other approved setting.

• Background Information Disclosure completed prior to the employee's first day of employment and yearly thereafter.

• Physically and emotionally able to care for all children, including children with disabilities.

• Certificate of completed department-approved Shaken Baby Training

• Current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training within 6 months of hire.

• Meet one (1) of the following requirements:

a. Master's or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education

b. Bachelor's degree in a related field with license from Wisconsin department of public instruction to act as a kindergarten, pre-kindergarten or early childhood (regular or special education) teacher.

c. Associate degree in Early Childhood Education.

d. Four courses for credit in early childhood education from an institution of higher education and within 3 years of hire, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator credential.

e. Four non-credit courses in early childhood education or its equivalent and within 3 years of hire, the Wisconsin Child Care Administrator credential.

f. A certificate from The Registry indicating the person is on Registry Level 14 or above.

Terms of Employment:

Salary and work hours to be established by the Pastor and Support Ministry Board.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated biannually in collaboration between the Center Director, Pastor and Support Ministry Board of Faith Community Church.

Progressive Dinner

Join us for an evening of good food and fellowship!

All adult members and friends (single and married) of Faith Community Church are welcome to participate in this year's progressive dinner.

Date:     Saturday, February 25
Time: 6 PM appetizers - everyone gathers at church
7 PM dinner - we split into smaller groups for dinner at the homes of church members
9 PM dessert - we meet again at the church

We need 3-5 homes to host dinners. Hosts are responsible for making the main dish to serve to 6-8 people.

Everyone not hosting is asked to provide a salad, bread or wine for the dinner and either an appetizer of dessert. The Ladies of Faith will assign these items once they know how many people will be attending the event.
