Communion
We believe that the Sacrament of Communion is essential in the body of Christ as the unifying act of the fellowship of believers. By partaking of the bread and the cup we remember the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross and share in His presence through the Holy Spirit. We believe that in all these things the Holy Spirit is actively present and that by the Holy Spirit our faith is strengthened and we are equipped with the appropriate gifts for our tasks in the body of Christ.
Communion is regularly celebrated the first Sunday of the month. You need not be a member of our congregation to receive Holy Communion. Communion is reserved for those who believe in Jesus as Savior or have a desire to know him. All are welcome at the Table of the Lord. Holy Communion is served to the Congregation in their chairs or on special occasion by Intinction (dipping in a common cup). We use bread and grape juice in serving God's people the Elements.
Our Reformed Tradition interprets Holy Communion as Christ's memorial of his sacrifice on the cross in the bread and wine. We emphasize Jesus' words, "Do this in remembrance of me."
