Faith Academy uses a Christian based curriculum-
The Pinnacle Curriculum. It is designed to assist teachers with program planning that encourages children to develop their emerging skills in all the developmental areas while discovering and experiencing God's love.
In all the age groups, the Pinnacle curriculum is centered on monthly themes, with weekly unit themes as well. Each day is packed with activities that centers around the unit theme. Pinnacle Points provide “mini lessons” about children and child development to increase the teachers' understanding of why the activities are important for children. Each classroom will provide a program of activities geared toward the age level and developmental needs of the children. The program shall provide each child with experiences that promote the following: self-esteem, positive self-image, self-expression, communication skills, creative expression, physical development (small and large motor skills), intellectual growth, emotional and social interaction. In all aspects of our curriculum, we incorporate Christian values and morals based on the Bible, different languages and cultures, ethnic foods and celebrations and equipment and materials reflect cultural diversity and individual differences. We incorporate readiness skills to help your child when he/she enters kindergarten.
Another aspect of a developmentally appropriate classroom is parental involvement. Parental involvement is beneficial for everyone. Parents provide teachers with a goldmine of information about their child. This helps the teacher individualize the curriculum for each child. Teachers need to inform parents of the concepts their children are learning so that the parents can reinforce these concepts at home. At the beginning of each month a parent newsletter - Pinnacle Press- will be sent home with each child to keep them informed of the exciting events their child will be participating in that month. We invite parents to come and visit and volunteer as they are able.
