Pumpkins for Poverty
2017 FCC PUMPKIN FESTIVAL
Plans have been made for this year’s Pumpkin Festival. For the second year in a row, all our funds will go to support Milwaukee County’s hungry through Hunger Task Force Farm based right here in Franklin. This year is going to be a one-day pumpkin extravaganza of fall-themed fun!
The 2017 FCC Pumpkin Festival will again feature the sale of hundreds of pumpkins but, this year, our pumpkins are being grown locally and will be either donated by local farmers or purchased at a reduced price to support our hope to increase our donation to the Hunger Task Force Farm. Last year we raised $1500 for the farm, and, this year, we hope to exceed that number greatly.
Our hope also is that most of our money will be raised on the day of our Pumpkin Festival, October 7th from 10am-3pm. Along with the Pumpkin Sale we are organizing many activities for that day. Here is a list of some of the the fun, family-friendly events we are hoping to plan:
Fall Craft Sales
Cake and Pie Walks
Kiddie Hay Rides
Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest
Photos with the Giant Hunger Task Force Farm Tractor
Youth Group Food Booth
Bounce House for the Kids
Food Drive for Hunger Task Force (non-perishable healthy breakfast items only)
The Pumpkin Festival is sure to be a lot of fun and a great outreach of our church to our community and city. So far our team is made up of Rich Novell, Sharon Dillon, Kurt Hoefert, Dave Henry, Todd Wallschlaeger, Sarah Anderson of the Hunger Task Force Farm, Pastor Stu and Lynn Merkel. Many more volunteers are needed to help organize and run the many fun events throughout the day. Our hope is that everyone at church will volunteer in some way, whether it be by donating decorations and children’s prizes, baking pies, running games or organizing events.
A Pumpkin Festival sign-up here or through our weekly church email. This event is bound to be a day of family-filled fun, and we look forward to seeing you all there!
