Faith Community Church is in the process of chartering a Venturing Crew through the Boy Scouts of America and we would like to gauge interest and invite youth to be founding members of the Crew! Once we get the framework set up we will start scheduling meetings and activities.

Venturing Crew (Boy Scouts of America)

Who is eligible to join?: Males and females aged 14-21 (or 13 and completed the 8th grade).

How often would we meet?: 1-2 times a month for meetings and 1 activity per month.

The Venturing program aims to enable young adults to:

  • Experience a program that is fun and full of challenge and adventure.

  • Acquire skills in the area of their crew’s specialty.

  • Become a skilled training and program resource for other youth groups.

  • Experience positive leadership from adult and youth leaders and be given opportunities to take on leadership roles.

  • Learn to make ethical choices throughout their lives by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

  • Have a chance to learn and grow in a supportive, caring, and fun environment.

The Venturing program emphasizes four main areas known as the A-L-P-S model:

  • Adventure – Mentoring, leading, and participating in crew-led adventures.

  • Leadership – Ongoing leadership development through training, mentoring, and hands-on leadership.

  • Personal Growth – Goal-setting in support of personal growth.

  • Service – Leading and participating in community service.

Venturing Activities

Venturers can participate in a wide range of activities. From snow sports to summer adventures, here’s a handful of activities Venturers can experience:

  • Scuba diving

  • Kayaking and whitewater rafting

  • Ziplining

  • Community service

  • Snowboarding, snowmobiling, and other snow sports

  • Wakeboarding, tubing, and other water sports

  • Drama and theater

  • Horseback riding

  • Golfing

  • Board and video gaming

  • Archery and other shooting sports

What does it cost?: For newly registered youth the costs will be approximately: $87 (to be prorated for a partial year) + $25 new member fees. The Crew may determine their own dues schedule and activities will be added as attended. If you are already registered with a Scouts BSA Troop then you may dual register in a Crew for no additional cost!
